Complete Cannabis Grow Cost Calculator
Estimate total grow cost from equipment, cycle length, recurring utilities and supplies.
Build a complete grow budget
This calculator separates one-time setup costs from recurring monthly expenses. Enter equipment, the planned number of months, monthly electricity, nutrients and water, plus media and other one-time purchases. The result is a simple planning total in the currency you choose.
The default example combines 1,250 in one-time costs with 680 in operating costs across four months, producing an estimated total of 1,930.
What to include
Equipment may include lights, environmental controls, timers, meters, irrigation hardware, shelving, safety devices, and tools. Media costs can include substrate, containers, trays, and amendments. Other costs may cover replacements, cleaning supplies, filters, testing products, or a contingency allowance.
Improve the electricity estimate
Use a dedicated electricity calculator when you need more precision. Lighting schedules change between growth stages, and fans, pumps, air conditioning, heaters, and dehumidifiers may cycle rather than run continuously. Utility rates can also include taxes, delivery charges, and time-of-use pricing.
Costs vary during a grow
This model uses one monthly average for simplicity. Nutrient, water, heating, and cooling demand can change over the cycle. Keep receipts and meter readings, then replace estimates with actual averages for future planning.
Budgeting tips
- Separate reusable equipment from per-cycle supplies.
- Add a realistic contingency for replacements.
- Record operating costs by month.
- Do not count expected harvest value as guaranteed income.
