Harvest Storage Jar Calculator
Estimate how many storage jars are needed from dry harvest weight, planned fill weight, and a reserve allowance.
Plan harvest storage containers
Enter final dry harvest weight, choose its unit, set the planned grams placed in each jar, and add an optional reserve. The calculator converts the harvest to grams, divides by the planned fill, applies the reserve, and rounds up to a whole jar.
A 500-gram harvest at 28 grams per jar requires about 17.9 nominal fills. With a 10% reserve, the estimate rounds up to 20 jars.
Jar size is not the same as fill weight
The amount that fits safely depends on flower density, shape, trim, and headspace. Do not assume a container’s liquid volume guarantees a particular cannabis weight. Test a representative jar without compressing the material.
Allow headspace and inspect the seal
Overpacking can restrict movement and make inspection difficult. Use clean, food-safe containers with intact seals, and follow appropriate curing and storage practices. Label batches and dates so containers can be tracked consistently.
Storage planning tips
- Use final dry weight rather than wet harvest weight.
- Keep several clean spare jars available.
- Avoid direct light and excessive heat.
- Monitor stored material for moisture problems or spoilage.
- Follow local possession and storage rules.
This is a container-count estimate. Safe storage depends on verified dryness, cleanliness, suitable environmental conditions, and applicable regulations.
