Remember that shade can change through the season. Trees fill out. The sun angle changes. A location that looks open early in spring may behave differently later. Borderline sites deserve another check after surrounding vegetation develops.

Week -5: learn the site’s temperature and moisture behavior

Now spend a week watching the local microclimate. Compare the growing position with the regional forecast. If the forecast says 27°C (81°F), but the container position beside a masonry wall feels dramatically hotter every afternoon, the local site is giving you information the weather app cannot.
