Estimate wet-to-dry harvest weight

Freshly harvested cannabis contains a large amount of water, so wet weight is much higher than the final dried and trimmed weight. This calculator applies an expected retained percentage to a wet harvest measurement. Enter the wet weight, choose the same unit you want in the result, and set the percentage you expect to remain after drying.

For example, 1,000 grams of wet material at a 25% retained-weight estimate produces 250 grams of dry material. The calculation is simply wet weight multiplied by the retained percentage.

What percentage should you use?

There is no universal wet-to-dry ratio. A broad planning assumption is often around 20% to 30%, but actual results vary. A harvest weighed with stems and fan leaves attached will usually retain a smaller percentage than carefully wet-trimmed flowers. Dense flowers, cultivar traits, maturity, and starting water content also affect the result.

If you have records from previous harvests grown and processed in a similar way, calculate your own retained percentage by dividing final dry weight by wet weight and multiplying by 100. That historical number is usually more useful than a generic estimate.

Dry weight still depends on the endpoint

The final number changes with drying duration, target moisture, trimming method, and the amount of stem retained. Weighing immediately after the dry room and weighing after curing may also produce slightly different results. Compare harvests only when the measurement method and endpoint are consistent.
